Here's the deal.....the park flushes the Fire Hydrants every month. When they do, it typically covers 3-4 days. They usually tell us "you might want to refrain from washing white clothes during this time." You can see from the pictures why! Now, that means what? Well, you can't even run the water for 4 days. You would think they would have the common courtesy to at least schedule what streets and homes will be affected at what times, on what days. No, they don't. What we do is, run the cold water for a few minutes to see if it remains clear. If it does, we all line up for a shower and hope it stays clear. If they decide to flush our area while we are showering, guess what happens......you got it, see the pictures.
The aftermath.......after the house has been contaminated, we need to drain and flush the hot water heater, flush and clean all the toilets, run the washing machine on warm with no clothes (sometimes twice), rebuild and clean the water softener, change the Ice Maker and flush the waterlines on the refrigerator. Oh yea, and replace the filter going to the fridge because it's plugged up! Also, we need to take every sink screen and shower head apart and clean it.
Not to worry, the park charges us for water and sewage! So, we use about 200 more gallons of their water to clean our plumbing system of which they caused the damage, AND THEY SEND US THE BILL!
Several of us have become ill at times for no reason, usually some form of stomach virus (imagine that), and we can't rule out the water.
